Not an early riser by nature, the sweatshirt came in handy for napping; but, with the bumpy road to the church mission camp, morning sleep eluded Chrysalis! The mission was located a few hours from Moscow, and is not embraced by orthodox Christians. Carol (the missionary with whom Chrysalis is staying) took Chrysalis on the metro so that she and the other two missionaries could all ride together in the van.

The camp visit!
Chrysalis was excited to have this opportunity to work with and serve the children. However, her ultimate purpose for being there actually focused on serving and encouraging the missionary family who facilitates the work that is done in the camp. Chrysalis was overwhelmed with excitement! It was breathtaking when she learned that the mom's name was Olga (the same as her Liza's [from Belarus]) and can you believe that the daughter's name was Liza? This family of four who receive no monetary remuneration also had a cat (Chrysalis loves cats) who was named "Timofey" (Russian for Timothy--her dad's name)! What mutual encouragement! Olga cooked a fried beef, chicken, and bean soup which was a real treat (not to mention some great sounding desserts)!
Delicious!
Chrysalis had the opportunity to learn more about how this family serves as they lead. She also gained a great deal of insight in to the challenges that they encounter.
It was definitely a day filled with learning more about the Russian people, their culture, and the work that is being done by Christians there. This understanding will enable and empower Chrysalis to prepare for the upcoming camp experience. It was an eventful day filled with the JOY of the Lord around every bend and turn in the road (literally)!

Please pray that Chrysalis will be healthy to serve and thank God for the opportunities he has given her to minster and to be ministered to...Moreover, please pray now for all of the Christian missionaries who have committed their lives to sharing the gospel...May many hear and believe!
